To achieve a nice bronzed healthy tan, keep safe by not over doing the amount of time you spend in the sun. Too much sun can be harmful but exposure in measurable doses and with SPF protection the sun can be healthy. You can protect your skin from overexposure by using a sunscreen. However, for the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) to be effective, it needs to be used correctly. You will find many quality SPF products in this category.
Here are some helpful application tips as well.
- Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before exposure to the sun to allow it to
penetrate the skin.
- You need to use the right amount. If you do not apply enough you are more likely to burn which is a very common mistake. It is recommended to use 2mg. sunscreen per square cm skin.
- Be sure to reapply every 2 hours while outside. The term water resistant means you must reapply every 40 minutes when swimming.
- Do not use old sunscreen. Check expiration dates and throw away old sunscreen.
